Honor Societies

Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society

The purpose of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society is to function as an honor and professional society for students of the biological sciences. Its activities shall be designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences.

phi alpha

Phi Alpha is the national undergraduate social work honor society. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievements in social work. The Lambda Kappa chapter was established at Chatham in 2002.

Phi Betta Kappa

Phi Betta Kappa celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Its campus chapters invite for induction the most outstanding arts and sciences students. The Society sponsors activities to advance these studies - the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences - in higher education and in society at large.

Pi gamma Mu

Pi Gamma Mu is an International Honor Society in Social Sciences. The mission of Pi Gamma Mu is to encourage and promote excellence in the Social Sciences and to uphold and nurture scholarship, leadership, and service. With membership, students will be able to participate in enriching learning experiences, networking with scholars and fellow students in their fields, an opportunity to earn a scholarship, and the chance to attend a triennial international convention with leaders around the world. On campus, the Honor Society hosts events and additional learning opportunities both exclusively for Pi Gamma Mu members, as well as events for the general campus community.

Psi Chi

Psi Chi is a national honor society recognizing outstanding scholastic achievements and excellence in psychology. Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the nationally established criteria.

Sigma Beta Delta

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest national recognition a business student can receive at college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta chapter. To be eligible for membership, a business student must rank in the top 20 percent of the junior, senior, or graduate class and be invited to membership by the faculty officers.

Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta’s central purpose is to confer distinction upon undergraduate and graduate students studying the English language and literature. Candidacy for membership is competitive and requires a minimum of a B average in all scholarship.

Triota (Iota Iota Iota)

The purpose of the organization shall be… “to encourage and support scholarship, excellence, and activism in women’s and gender studies at Chatham University, as well as foster feminist community, promote personal growth, and increase awareness of issues pertaining to gender, race, class, sexuality, and other interesting dimensions of identity.
